While My Guitar Gently Weeps...

A few months ago, back in September, one of my birthday gifts from my best friend was an over the top trip to Vegas to gamble, go to the spa, shop, relax, see some shows...and one of the shows was Cirque de Soleil's LOVE performance which was so unforgettable to me. The Beatles are magical to me and dear to my heart mainly because my dad and I have been obsessed with them since I was a little girl. He'd play the guitar and I'd sing the lyrics over our vinyl record player. Only a handful of musicians have ever brilliantly written music that has truly stayed significant, timeless, influential, and of the moment even after so many years. It's pretty awe inspiring.
So, at the show, we had amazing seats and just before it went dark and it began, he whispered in my ear " I hope you love it. This show is the main reason I brought you to Vegas. I wanted you to see LOVE."
*goosebumps*
It's hard to explain how spectacular it really was in real life. It's like being VIP front row at a small soundcheck at a concert for a band that you've been their #1 fan for 20 years. But then the band decides F this! It's not a soundcheck, let's go all out like we might die tomorrow! Then you see that the people sitting around who were once strangers are like kindred spirits to you now. For example, this lady sitting next to me was once a nameless person in a semi tacky dress that I was guarding my purse from...but...after the first song and a few smiles accompanied with some "I cant believe how amazing this is" twinkly eye contact...we were both just two French women (yes, I heard her speak French to her friend) who were suddenly transported to Liverpool, or another time period before our lifetime, for a few hours.
The costumes dazzled, the choreography was just shy of unbelievable, the set design was incredible and insane, and most of all the music was the perfect set list and it just made my heart flutter. Some songs had me dancing in my chair and squeezing Marc's hand to the beat (Baby you can drive my car!) and other songs I had that lump in my throat like when you're trying not to cry, but you cry anyways because it's just too much (Blackbird Singing in the Dead of Night).
Thank you MW, I'll never forget that night or that trip...it will always hold a precious place in my heart!
