Rockin' and Rollin'

I'm so honored and excited to be helping out with Alice Cooper's Solid Rock Foundation! I can't describe myself the amazing and inspiring  and  work they do, so I'm going to let them explain in it briefly in this quote from their website...

"We believe a renewed sense of self-worth and purpose provides a meaningingful foundation for the youth in local communities. Many teens today face a future without a solid foundation from broken promises and burdened hearts. At Solid Rock our goal is to provide a landing place for teens. This local sanctuary is provided to support an exciting and creative journey for teens. Join us in building a Solid Rock for the next generation."

I'm excited to be designing the flyers for them for upcoming events (stay tuned!) and I'm going to be teaching a Photography Workshop every week starting soon! Follow my Instagram @loveandphoto to see all the fun things I've been up to!! Also, please check out Solid Rock (link above) and if you have the time please volunteer! They do amazing things there!

I Feel a Band of Love & Dreams

Music therapy for alzheimers patients is a mission very dear to my heart. I believe in the healing power of music as I've experienced it myself. Betty's Foundation is hosting it's annual benefit to support music therapy research and I urge you to go on Sunday April 30th if you are in the Marina del Rey area it's at Canvas Presents, and donate to the cause and look for Love Bullet necklaces for sale at the silent auction!

"The music that shaped your younger years left something behind.

Imprints that just might outlast everything else.

In passionate partnership, Canvas and Betty’s Foundation explore the connection between music and Alzheimer’s disease.

UCIMind Neuroscientist Dr. Joshua Grill explains the basics of how our brains process information and how music can be used in treating Alzheimer’s.

Suggested ticket price: $35

All proceeds benefit Betty’s Foundation - an organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s awareness and research.

Food and drinks at 6:30. Concert starts at 7." - Betty's Foundation

When You Believe...

I've believed in music as therapy since my father passed away when I was fourteen and I played Mariah Carey's "One Sweet Day" on repeat for weeks. Now scientists are proving that music helps and heals.
Click here to read an article about this...it even includes song suggestions for an anti anxiety playlist!

Music Monday: the Way You Move

I'm realizing my blog has slowly turned into a Lia Kim fan page...
and I'm ok with that! I think her choreography is genius and when she dances it's beautiful,  mesmerizing and it seems effortless.
So enjoy this video to one of my favorite songs at the moment.
I also wanted to share with you the awesomeness that is
 Ellie Goulding.
Similar to Lia Kim, she doesn't put on a show,
she simply IS the music.

Music Monday : Sweet Nothing

P. Miller is such an inspiration... I miss my piano at my parents home.
I love this song, such a lovely cover to sing along to.

Music Monday: Standing with an Army

This Music Monday's song is dedicated to my best friend Kim.
"Matter fact I always thought you were too cool for me"

Singing Sisters

{ My sisters and I in Coronado beach last Summer }
I am having so much fun tonight finding acoustic song covers on Youtube... I just fell in love with this little sister big sister duo named Lennon and Maisy. I'm twelve years older than my twin sisters and I love them dearly, our relationship is sacred to me. I call one of them Smalls and she calls me Biggie :) I'm dreading them going off to college next year, so watching these sisters perform together touches my heart. Tell your brothers and sisters you love them, today and everyday! Enjoy these videos!

Do You Think We Can Change?

I love sharing on my blog acoustic covers I discover on YouTube... this one is my favorite Pink Floyd song "Wish You Were Here" covered by Fred Durst that's surprisingly touching with a live orchestra accompanying him and Trent Rzeznick. The lyric changes are a beautiful new touch to this old tune. Enjoy!

Acoustic Covers

I fell in love with Boyce Avenue when I heard him cover Imagine Dragon's Radioactive...here's one of my new favorite covers by him "A Thousand Years" originally by Christina Perri.
If you have 4 minutes and 44 seconds to spare, you'll fall in love too! Enjoy and happy Tuesday!
